Designing education

How can teaching turn students into future shapers? Together with the Hopp Foundation, we worked with teachers to develop new concepts—and turned them into two books that bring design thinking into schools in a way that is suitable for everyday use.

The problem

The demands on teachers are extremely high. From inclusion to digitalization – teachers must constantly adapt to changing social conditions and align their teaching accordingly. However, our education system often makes this extremely difficult. Despite being highly motivated, teachers often lack the time to learn new methods for lesson planning.

The goal

To effectively support teachers in the development of contemporary teaching formats. The result should be a book that benefits teachers and students alike.

The implementation

It was clear from the outset that our book should be closely geared to the needs of the users. So, we researched educational plans, looked at innovative teaching approaches, spoke to teachers and visited schools. Various teaching concepts were developed in collaboration with teachers. We developed accompanying materials such as method cards and worksheets. Gradually, the many ideas came together to form a whole, the first version of the book – a prototype. We made the draft available for teachers to read and test and then improved it again.

The result is the book “Design Thinking und Schule“. It can even be downloaded free of charge. A book about Design Thinking in everyday school life, developed with Design Thinking. We hope that it will help to turn students into motivated and optimistic future designers.
